Hawaii Film Critics name ‘The Trial of the Chicago 7’ Best Picture

The Hawaii Film Critics Society has named Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7 the Best Picture of 2020. The Netflix film, based on the riots and trial of the 1968 Democratic convention, also earned wins for original screenplay and editing.

Christopher Nolan’s Tenet was the biggest winner though, with four, including a genre win for Best Sci-Fi Film. Sound of Metal earned three wins, including Best Supporting Actor for Paul Raci and Best Supporting Actress for Olivia Cooke. Da 5 Bloods won Best Director for Spike Lee and Best Actor for Delroy Lindo.

The group’s award for Best Hawaiian Film went to Waikiki, directed by Christopher Kahunahana and Brandon Cronenberg’s Possessor was named Most Overlooked Film.
