[Updated] Emmy nominee Leslie Jones, Emmy nominee Laverne Cox, Emmy winner Tatiana Maslany and Josh Gad will announce the nominees for the 72nd Emmy Awards on July 28, 2020, according to the Television Academy. Unlike previous years of the west coast waking up for a 5:30am announcement, this year’s nominations will come in at 8:30am PST, giving the lot of us a bit more time to sleep in.

“Television has played an integral role in navigating these unprecedented times and has brought us together as we remain apart,” Frank Scherma, TV chairman and CEO, said Thursday. “We are honored to have these groundbreaking actors, producers and comedians announce this year’s Emmy nominees — whose extraordinary work has been vital to the evolution of the television landscape this season.”

The two-night Creative Arts Emmys will be a virtual event, with all Governors Balls canceled. Reginald Hudlin will become the first Black executive producer of the Emmys, joining with Done+Dusted and host Jimmy Kimmel to oversee the 72nd Emmys, still scheduled for September 20.
