Interview: Bobby Moynihan discusses ‘Mr. Mayor’ and his ‘SNL’ roots [VIDEO]

Can you find a more diverse IMDb page than someone who has been a talking duck, a talking panda, a chatty monster, a manatee, a drunk uncle, part of the Star Wars animated universe, and a communication director for the Mayor of Los Angeles? One would be hard-pressed to do so, but that’s just a snippet of Bobby Moynihan’s page. This former UCB and Saturday Night Live cast member takes great pride in taking on whatever roles come his way, whether it be next to Ted Danson in NBC’s Mr. Mayor or voicing a line directed at Scrooge McDuck.

While his CBS Sitcom Me, Myself, and I never did find an audience (which I’m still irritated by), it seems Moynihan is settling into a supporting role on NBC’s Mr. Mayor, where he plays Jayden Kwapis, Neil’s (Ted Danson) communication director. The show has been picked up for a 2nd season, and a big reason is due to the chemistry between Danson and Moynihan.

We were able to speak with Bobby about Mr. Mayor and where season 2 is headed for the newest mayor of Los Angeles. We also touched on his SNL routes and found out how he got the news that he had made the cast.

Mr. Mayor is currently available to stream on Peacock. Bobby Moynihan is Emmy eligible for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
