Interview: Emmy Award winner Ann Dowd on the sinister new season of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’

She’s been known as Olivia in Garden State, Abigail in Captain Fantastic, Joan in Hereditary, but it’s her portrayal of Aunt Lydia in The Handmaid’s Tale that strikes the most fear in everyone.

However, Ann Dowd is far from who she portrays on screen in The Handmaid’s Tale which began its 4th and most explosive season today. This Emmy Award-winning actor’s fiery performance as the most hated woman in Gilead is one of many reasons why the dystopian drama is consistently one of the best shows on television.

We were lucky enough to catch with Dowd to discuss her role as Lydia and some of the reactions she gets from fans. The first three episode of Season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale are available to stream on Hulu now with weekly episodes every Wednesday.
