Interview: Giancarlo Esposito on playing Gus Fring and the fans of ‘Better Call Saul,’ ‘The Boys,’ and ‘The Mandalorian’ [VIDEO]

Not many actors get the chance to get to play an incredible role, have, in their own words, “one of the greatest television deaths ever,” and then return to explore the character even more in a new series. Yet that’s the situation for the extraordinarily talented Giancarlo Esposito, who’s back as Gus Fring in the first half of the final season of Better Call Saul.

We had the chance to speak with five-time Emmy nominee Esposito (including twice for Better Call Saul) about the opportunity to reprise the part and whether he feels that Gus’s arc has been sufficiently explored. We also talked about his prominent work in two other ultra-popular series: The Boys, currently airing season three, and The Mandalorian, returning soon for its own third season.

Better Call Saul is available to watch on AMC and AMC+, and returns for its final slate of episodes on Monday, July 11. The Boys drops new episodes on Fridays on Prime Video, and seasons one and two of The Mandalorian are available to stream on Disney+.

Giancarlo Esposito is Emmy eligible for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Better Call Saul.
