Shea Whigham is a remarkable character actor who has had an impressive career in television, with standout roles in Boardwalk Empire and Homecoming, among others. His latest part may be his best one yet, playing political operator Gordon Liddy in Starz’s over-the-top limited series Gaslit, where he rivals big stars like Julia Roberts and Sean Penn for the distinction of best-in-show.
We had the chance to speak with Whigham about digging into the role of Liddy and his other formative TV experiences, including his forthcoming return to season two of Perry Mason. We also talked about his time on Waco, the L.A. Confidential pilot that didn’t get picked up, and his upcoming work on both parts of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning.
Shea Whigham is Emmy eligible for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Gaslit.
The limited series Gaslit is currently available to stream on Starz.
