Josh Segarra has been a busy man over the past couple of months. He currently has three shows in Emmy contention this year, and we have a feeling that he’s just getting started. When we asked Segarra about his experience campaigning, he said, “It’s been a trip.”
The talented actor known for his roles in The Other Two and Scream 6, recently sat down for an interview with AwardsWatch to discuss his eventful awards season and ongoing projects. With no less than three Emmy submissions this season, Segarra expressed his excitement and gratitude for the positive reception he has been receiving. Reflecting on his experience with campaigning, he described it as an exhilarating journey and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to collaborate with skilled writers that he is a fan of amid the Writers Guild strike. “I’m a very lucky cat to be involved in these projects that I honestly have a ball making,” he said.
During the interview, Segarra and Johnson delve into his character Giorgio on the Apple+ show The Big Door Prize and explored the show’s central theme of uncovering one’s true potential. Segarra and I both shared a mutual desire to discover their true potential, as it would enable them to make more informed choices. The actor also discussed a World Wrestling Entertainment performance center in Florida, which holds personal significance due to its proximity to his upbringing. Segarra speculated how his life might have taken a different trajectory had the center existed during his younger years. He revealed a passion for professional wrestling and sports anchoring, expressing a particular interest in basketball commentary and a preference for soccer as a player.
The conversation then shifted to Segarra’s journey toward success, which included his early stint at Olive Garden. He amusingly recounted clever ways he discovered to obtain free breadsticks during his time there and shared some of his valuable insights from that period. The interview also touched upon on playing Lance and his memorable experiences working alongside comedy legends such as Wanda Sykes and Molly Shannon in the Max Original The Other Two.
