Matt Rogers and the Q-Force crew are out to make animation gay as hell.
The new Netflix animated series, which follows a group of LGBTQ+ superspies trying to prove themselves against all odds, features an all-star voice cast including Rogers, Sean Hayes, Laurie Metcalf, Wanda Sykes, David Harbour, Patti Harrison and Gary Cole.
For Rogers, the show allowed him to pull double duty, both as voice actor and writer. It also allowed him to form a bond with Hayes, who co-created and executive produced the show, as well. In Rogers, Hayes saw a version of himself. The two men, and really the show itself, bridge the gap between the mainstream queer canon of generations past and the unabashedly confident and referential moment of now.
Rogers spoke to Daniel Trainor about his relationship with Hayes, the importance of queer content creators and writers rooms, his upcoming Showtime series with Vanessa Bayer, and what to do about The Real Housewives of New York City.
All 10 episodes of Q-Force are available to stream on Netflix now.
