Michael Mando had only ever seen the last two episodes of Breaking Bad when he heard about the role of Nacho Varga on Better Call Saul. Now, six seasons later, Mando has marvelously navigated Nacho’s transformation into an endearing character who ended up being one of the purest in the universe of his show.
We had the chance to speak with Mando about getting to know Nacho, his complicated relationship with Mike and Gus, and whether he feels like Nacho’s arc is complete – or if he’d be open to playing him again if there was another prequel or spinoff. We also discussed the rise of Canadian television and Mando’s time on another popular series, Orphan Black.
Better Call Saul is available to watch on AMC and AMC+, and returns for its final slate of episodes on Monday, July 11. Michael Mando is Emmy eligible for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Better Call Saul.
