Interviews: Alex Newell and John Clarence Stewart (‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist’) are breaking out

Part of what makes NBC’s Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist an engaging and vibrant hit is its ensemble cast. Alex Newell (Glee), who identifies as a gender-nonconforming man and goes by all pronouns, and John Clarence Stewart (Luke Cage, What/If), who goes by he/him, are two of the cast members who are standing out this season.

Newell, a Critics’ Choice, Grammy and Screen Actors Guild nominee is no stranger to the spotlight but Georgia native Stewart is just now beginning to share in it. We were lucky enough to speak with both actors about their roles on the show and where they would like to see their character headed in future seasons.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist season two is currently airing on NBC.
