‘Into the Woods’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Lead Make-up & Hairstyling Guild Noms

Into the Woods

Despite inexplicably not qualifying for the Oscar version of this category, Into the Woods nabbed three nominations from the Make-up & Hairstyling guild this morning; Best Period/Character Make-up, Best Special Effects Make-up and Best Period and/or Character Hairstyling. Guardians also picked up three and The Theory of Everything received two nominations. Interstellar received a mention in the Contemporary category, marking another guild nomination in that category despite mentions from the Art Directors guild in Fantasy. Nightcrawler and The Grand Budapest Hotel continued their guild streak with nominations today. Currently, with The Imitation Game missing here, The Grand Budapest Hotel is the only 2014 film to hit every guild so far. With the Directors Guild just a few days away and Anderson a very likely nominee there that puts the film in a category of one. Winners will be announced February 14th.
