Jessie Buckley and Chloé Zhao Q&A for ‘Hamnet’ at the 48th Mill Valley Film Festival [VIDEO]
Actress Jessie Buckley and Academy Award-winning director Chloé Zhao discuss their film Hamnet on opening night of the 48th Mill Valley Film Festival with MVFF Director of Programming Zoe Elton.
Based on the novel of the same name by Maggie O’Farrell, Hamnet tells the story of Agnes and William Shakespeare and the death of their only son, Hamnet, and how it became the origin of Shakespeare’s most recognizable work, Hamlet. Zhao directs and co-wrote the script with O’Farrell, which co-stars Academy Award nominees Paul Mescal and Emily Watson, and Joe Alwyn.
The film won the Toronto International Film Festival’s People’s Choice Award and was selected as the best film of the Telluride Film Festival (where it had its world premiere) by both press and industry voters as well as the general public.
Focus Features will release Hamnet in New York and Los Angeles on November 27 and nationwide on December 12.
