Kansas City Film Critics Circle (KCFCC) winners: '1917' wins the battle for Best Film, Director

The Kansas City Film Critics Circle (KCFCC), the 2nd oldest critics group in the US, gave out its 2019 awards today and gave 1917 its first Best Film win of the season. Its director, Sam Mendes, won Best Director, his first of the season as well. The WWI epic also picked up a win for cinematography.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph (Dolemite Is My Name) was selected as Best Supporting Actress and Joe Pesci (The Irishman) was named Best Supporting Actor.

Special awards were given to Us (The Vince Koehler Award for Best Science Fiction, Fantasy or Horror Film) and Portrait of a Lady on Fire (The Tom Poe Award for Best LGBT Film).
