Not that it needed more festival presence, La La Land, the current frontrunner for the Best Picture Oscar, is going to screen at AFI Fest as a Centerpiece Gala on November 15th at the TCL Chinese Theater.

The film has already swept up audiences at Venice, Telluride, and Toronto (where it won that festival’s People’s Choice award) this fall on its way to its early December release. Directed by Damien Chazelle (the Oscar-winning Whiplash) and starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling as a struggling actress and stubborn jazz pianist, respectively, the modern-day musical features original music by Justin Hurwitz and original songs by Tony Award nominees Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
