Las Vegas Film Critics pick ‘ROMA’ as Best Picture, dive in for Lady Gaga as Best Actress

ROMA, Alfonso Cuaron’s personal journey that chronicles a year in the life of a middle-class family in Mexico City in the early 1970’s has captured the minds and hearts of Las Vegas Film Critics Society, winning five awards including; Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing and Best Foreign Film.  

A Star is Born won four awards: Lady Gaga winning as Best Actress, Sam Elliott for Best Supporting Actor, Best Song for “Shallow,” and Breakout Filmmaker for Bradley Cooper.”

Ethan Hawke (First Reformed) and Regina King (If Beale Street Could Talk) continued their dominance, winning Best Actor and Supporting Actress, respectively.

The thriller A Quiet Place was recognized for Best Original Screenplay and Best Horror Film. Other highlights were Isle of Dogs for Best Animated Film, Best Costume Design for The Favourite, and Best Documentary for Won’t You Be My Neighbor?

The William Holden Lifetime Achievement Award was given to actor Sam Elliott.
