‘Looking’ Feature Film to Close San Francisco Gay & Lesbian Film Fest

After a short two-season run on HBO, the 40th San Francisco International Film Festival (put on by Frameline) will World Premiere the final chapter of LOOKING. The show, about 30-something gay men trying to find love, career, friendship, and meaning in contemporary San Francisco will see a wedding weekend turn into a series of heartfelt encounters with loves new and old for Patrick Murray (Jonathan Groff) as he faces his longtime avoidance of doing the “hard stuff” to make his relationships work, especially with the right guy.

Frameline40 opens June 16 with an energetic and unapologetically flamboyant film, the Bay Area premiere of KIKI. Over two decades after Paris is Burning, filmmakers Sara Jordenö and Twiggy Pucci Garçon’s empowering documentary fast forwards to the New York ballroom scene of now: a vibrant and political subculture centered on LGBTQ youth of color for whom dance is far more than performance—it’s redefining family and identity.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary with a new rebrand and 11 days of ground-breaking films that reflect the diversity of queer stories from across the globe, Frameline will announce the full program on May 23, 2016.

Erik Anderson
