The 8thAnnual Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists guild awards were handed out on Saturday and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom won both period hair and period make-up and Pinocchio won the special make-up effects award for motion picture. Both are Oscar-nominated alongside MUAH nominees Mank and Hillbilly Elegy (who both went home empty-handed tonight) as well as Emma.
Birds of Prey was another double winner, taking both contemporary prizes for hair and make-up.
Previous motion picture winners here that translated to Oscar wins include 2019’s Bombshell, 2018’s Vice, 2017’s Darkest Hour and 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road.
Presenters are set to include Jennifer Garner (Yes Day), Judith Light (The Politician), Ming-Na Wen (The Mandalorian, Mulan), Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm), Cheryl Burke (Dancing with the Stars), Temuera Morrison (The Mandalorian), Doug Jones (Star Trek: Discovery), A.J.
