‘Maestro,’ ‘El Conde’ ‘Oppenheimer’ Among American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) Nominations

The American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) revealed its 2024 Outstanding Achievement Award nominees in feature film, documentary, television and music video categories where El Conde, Maestro, Killers of the Flower Moon, Poor Things and Oppenheimer headed up the theatrical feature film nominees.

Last year’s feature film winner Mandy Walker (Elvis) made history when she became the first woman to win the ASC Award. While she was Oscar-nominated for her work, the Oscar went to All Quiet on the Western Front. The ASC nominees generally match up with Oscar 3/5 or 4/5 and often take wild swings with their nominations but also can give us an idea of an outside player whose chances massively improve after nabbing a spot here. Seven of the past 11 ASC winners went on to win the Oscar for best cinematography.

In television, which splits between Half Hour and One Hour programming, the nominees included The Bear, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Barry, Gotham Knights, Foundation and Schmigadoon!

Winners will be announced during the 38^th Annual ASC Awards ceremony on March 3, 2024, at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. The event will be live streamed worldwide on theasc.com.
