“Better living through chemistry. It’s in our DNA.”

Focus Features has released the first trailer for Dark Waters, the new film by Todd Haynes that stars Academy Award nominee Mark Ruffalo as a long-time defense attorney for big chemical finding himself on the other side when he uncovers a dark secret that connects a growing number of unexplained deaths due to one of the world’s largest corporations, DuPont Chemical.

Dark Waters is directed by Academy Award nominee Todd Haynes (Far From Heaven) and written by Mario Correa (from an earlier screenplay by Matthew Michael Carnahan) based on the NY Times magazine article “The Lawyer Who Became DuPont’s Worst Nightmare” by Nathaniel Rich, based on the true story of attorney Rob Bilott.

The film co-stars Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway, Academy Award winner Tim Robbins, Bill Camp, Victor Garber, Academy Award nominee Mare Winningham, William Jackson Harper and Bill Pullman.

Focus Features will release Dark Waters in select theaters on November 22 with a wider rollout after. Here is the first trailer.
