‘Minding the Gap’ wins three IDA Documentary awards

Bing Liu’s Minding the Gap (Hulu)

Bing Liu’s Minding the Gap bested all competition at the 34th Independent Documentary Association’s awards last night, winning three prizes: Best Feature, Editing and Emerging Filmmaker for Liu. The coming of age skateboarding doc won a Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Filmmaking at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and is currently streaming on Hulu.

Other winners included the Netflix limited series Wild Wild Country and Bisbee ’17.

The Career Achievement Award went to Julia Reichert, a three-time Academy-Award nominee and co-founder of New Day Films. The IDA’s Courage Under Fire Award was given to director Stephen Maing and all the NYPD 12 whistleblowers of Crime + Punishment.
