The 2017 awards season isn’t quite finished, folks.
The 23rd Chlotrudis Society for Independent Film announced their winners on Sunday and the Best Picture Oscar winner Moonlight picked up another win with the group, along with Director (Barry Jenkins), Supporting Actor (Oscar winner Mahershala Ali) and Ensemble. Oscar nominee Isabelle Huppert won Best Actress for Elle and Joel Edgerton won Best Actor for Loving.
The technical categories spread the wealth over a handful of foreign language films with Cemetery of Splendor winning Cinematography, Mountains May Depart winning Editing and The Handmaiden winning Production Design. Ava DuVernay’s Oscar-nominated film 13TH won Documentary.
Presenters and guests included many members and friends of the Boston film community, among them indie filmmakers and critics, programmers from the Independent Film Festival of Boston, the Boston Jewish Film Festival, Wicked Queer Boston’s LGBTQ Film Festival, the Brattle Theater and consulate staff of the French Cultural Center.
