Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) winners: Dunkirk, Blade Runner, Apes all hit the mark

The Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE), always the last top guild to announce before the Oscars, has revealed their Golden Reel winners and they’ve really spread the wealth. The three top categories – Dialogue/ADR, Effects/Foley and Music Score all went to three different films in direct competition with each other. War for the Planet of the Apes took Dialogue, Blade Runner 2049 took Effects/Foley and Dunkirk took Music. The latter two are competing for the Sound Editing Oscar, the Cinema Audio Society (CAS) announces next weekend. With Dunkirk winning the Sound award at BAFTA this weekend, it tips the favor in its hand a bit.

Last year, Hacksaw Ridge won both Dialogue/ADR and Effects/Foley that resulted in a Sound Mixing Oscar win, while Arrival won the Oscar for Sound Editing. Find out who the Gold Rush Gang thinks will win Sound Editing here.
