I’ve got a brand-spanking new trailer for Hidden Figures and with each new look the film feels more and more like a triumph. A triumph of story, of box office and yes, of awards potential.

Hidden Figures is the incredible untold story of Katherine G. Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe)—brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.

The trailer features Original Song Oscar contender “Runnin'” from Pharrell Williams (who’s also a producer on the film and its the co-composer). You can pre-order Hidden Figures: The Album featuring new music by Pharrell, Janelle Monáe, Alicia Keyes, Mary J. Blige, Kim Burrell and more on Apple Music now: .

Here at AwardsWatch, we’re seeing Oscar possibilities for Hidden Figures in Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress (for both or either Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe could make it), Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Song. Taraji P. Henson could even break into this year’s tough Best Actress race. The film co-stars Kevin Costner, Jim Parsons, Kirsten Dunst, Mahershala Ali and Glen Powell.

20th Century Fox has set Hidden Figures for a limited Oscar-qualifying release in December and then goes wide on January 6th.

Among his many achieved goals with AwardsWatch, he has given a platform to underrepresented writers and critics and supplied them with access to film festivals and the industry and calls the Bay Area his home where he lives with his husband and son.
