The New York Film Critics Circle (NYFCC) is set to announce their awards for the best in film for 2016 on Thursday, December 1st.

Always one of the early announcers, they will be sharing that date with the Critics Choice Movie Awards nominations and just after the National Board of Review (NBR) makes their choices on November 29th. Last year, the NYFCC chose Carol for Best Picture and Best Director, neither of which it was nominated for at the Oscars.

The NYFCC also announced that five new members will join the group: Vanity Fair‘s Richard Lawson, The Village Voice‘s Alan Scherstuhl, Screencrush’s Matt Singer, as well as former members Matt Zoller Seitz who is now at RogerEbert.com and David Fear who is now with Rolling Stone. The group’s GM is Star Magazine’s Marshall Fine (in a newly created post) and its Vice Chair is IndieWire’s Eric Kohn. Other members can be found here.

The winners gala will be honored at the NYFCC awards dinner on January 3rd at Tao Downtown.
