The Set Decorators Society of America (SDSA) awards celebrate the work of Set Decorators and their colleagues with Best Achievement in Film 2021 and today revealed their nominations in four categories: Period, Fantasy or Science Fiction, Contemporary and Musical or Comedy.
For period set decor, the nominees are Being the Ricardos, House of Gucci, Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley and The Power of the Dog. Contemporary nominees included CODA, The Lost Daughter and The Hand of God while The Tragedy of Macbeth‘s gothic expressionism earned it a spot in the Fantasy/Science Fiction category.
Cruella, Cyrano, The French Dispatch, West Side Story and tick, tick…BOOM! make up the Musical or Comedy nominees.
The categories highlight feature-length films with documentaries and animated motion pictures not eligible. For a list of this year’s eligible films go here.
The winner voting period will be February 2-11 and the awards in each category will be announced on February 22.
