The North Carolina Film Critics Association have announced their nominations for its fifth annual awards honoring the best achievements in film. There is no clear leader as four of the group’s five Best Film nominees (Hell or High Water, La La Land, Manchester by the Sea and Moonlight) earned six nominations apiece, mostly competing directly against each other in multiple categories.
The Handmaiden, which continues to make a killing at this year’s critics’ awards, landed four nominations. Arrival earned four nominations, including Best Film, but missed out on Best Director and Best Actress (Amy Adams).
Winners will be announced at the NCFCA site on January 2, 2017.
