‘One Child Nation,’ ‘Honeyland,’ ‘American Factory’ among Producers Guild (PGA) Documentary nominations

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) has nominated seven documentary features for their highest honor, including One Child Nation, Honeyland and American Factory, the first foray into film producing from former First Lady Michelle and President Barack Obama.
Apollo 11 and One Child Nation have shown up at nearly every group’s list of doc nominees, including Critics Choice, Cinema Eye Honors and the International Documentary Association and are frontrunners for the Documentary Feature Oscar. The shortlist of docs eligible for the Oscar will be announced on December 16.
Producers Guild nominees in the sports, children’s and short-form categories will be announced on December 19, with other film and television nominees announced on January 7, 2020.
The 31st Annual Producers Guild Awards will take place on January 18, 2020 with previously announced honorary awards going to Ted Sarandos (the Milestone Award), Marta Kauffman (the Norman Lear Achievement Award in Television) and Octavia Spencer (the Visionary Award).
