The 1st AwardsWatch Emmy nominations were announced and the first season of Orange is the New Black dominated with 12 nominations, including Comedy Series, New Series and Program of the Year. Mad Men‘s first half of its last season did surprisingly well, gathering nominations in Drama Series, Lead Actor (Jon Hamm), Lead Actress (Elisabeth Moss) and Supporting Actress (Kiernan Shipka) while Breaking Bad‘s actual last season did very well, tying Mad Men‘s tally of 9.
The strength of The Good Wife‘s renaissance season did very well with AwardsWatch voters, landing in Program of the Year, Drama Series, Lead Actress (Julianna Margulies), Supporting Actor and Actress (Josh Charles and Christine Baranski, respectively) and more. The Comedy Central hit Broad City netted a Comedy Series nomination along with two for its leads, Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson. Hannibal also played strongly, showing up in Program of the Year, Drama Series, two Lead Actor noms (for Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy) plus two Guest nominations (for Raul Esparza and Gillian Anderson).
Surprising snubs befell The Americans despite a superb sophomore season. The recently canceled military comedy Enlisted managed a Supporting Actor nomination for Parker Young but nothing else. House of Cards netted a mention for Robin Wright but not for Spacey or the show in Drama Series. Winners will be revealed Wednesday, July 16th.
