No, this isn’t a reboot of the Joss Whedon space show-turned-feature film. Serenity is an original thriller from Oscar nominee Steven Knight (Dirty Pretty Things) and reunites Oscar winners and Interstellar co-stars Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club) and Anne Hathaway (Les Miserables).

Existing somewhere between TV’s Bloodline and Sleeping with the Enemy, the story centers on a fishing boat captain named Baker Dill (McConaughey) who leads tours off a tranquil, tropical enclave called Plymouth Island. But his peaceful existence is shatterd when his ex-wife Karen (Hathaway) tracks him down and makes a desperate plea for help, begging Baker to save her, and their young son, from her new, violent husband (Jason Clarke).

Serenity also stars Jeremy Strong and Oscar nominees Diane Lane (Unfaithful) and Djimon Hounsou (In America). It will be release by Avrion Pictures on October 19th, 2018.

Here is the trailer.
