The Chicago Film Critics Association (CFCA) announced their 2019 award winners and claiming the organization’s top honors was, Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite is named both Best Picture and Best Foreign Language Film; the film also claims Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. Matching Parasite’s four wins, Greta Gerwig’s Little Women earns Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Score, Best Costume Design and Best Supporting Actress (Florence Pugh).
After garnering a leading nine nominations, Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time…in Hollywood earns two wins for Best Art Direction and Best Supporting Actor (Brad Pitt). The remaining nine films honored at the reception held in Chicago on Saturday night each receive one win each, including Marriage Story (Adam Driver, Best Actor); Us (Lupita Nyong’o, Best Actress); Apollo 11 (Best Documentary) and Toy Story 4 (Best Animated Feature). Filmmaker Lulu Wang (The Farewell) receives the CFCA’s Milos Stehlik Breakthrough Filmmaker Award, while Aisling Franciosi (The Nightingale) is named Most Promising Performer.
