‘Personal History of David Copperfield’ leads BIFA craft wins

Armando Iannucci’s The Personal History of David Copperfield led the British Independent Film Awards craft wins today with three: Best Casting, Best Costume Design and Best Production Design.

Sarah Crowe (Costume Design) and Cristina Casali (Production Design) previously won BIFA awards in 2017 for their work on Iannucci’s The Death Of Stalin.

The Personal History of David Copperfield led the nominations with 11 when they were announced last month; the remaining category winners will be revealed at the BIFA ceremony on December 1st. Iannucci is nominated for Best Screenplay (with co-writer Simon Blackwell), while Dev Patel is up for Best Actor and Tilda Swinton and Hugh Laurie are nominated for Supporting Actress and Actor, respectively.

Brian Welsh’s Beats won two categories: Best Cinematography for Benjamin Kracun, and Best Sound for David Bowtle-McMillan, Joakim Sundström and Robert Farr. Judy and Wild Rose won one each: Best Make Up & Hair Design for Jeremy Woodhead and Best Music for Jack Arnold, respectively.
