Play Misty for me: ‘Yellowjackets’ star Samantha Hanratty talks about the year’s buzziest show and her love of her counterpart Christina Ricci [Video Interview]

Among the most intriguing characters on Showtime’s breakout drama series and Emmy-nominated hit Yellowjackets is Misty, who demonstrates a strong survival instinct but also some very troubling personality characteristics. While Christina Ricci earned an Emmy nomination for playing the adult version of the character, Samantha Hanratty delivers an equally compelling turn as the younger Misty, who displays a surprising resilience after the team’s plane crash and an unrequited attraction to her assistant coach.

We got to speak with the very lively and personable Hanratty about the role she originally auditioned for, what audiences wouldn’t know about the process of filming the show, and how much she knows about what’s really going on. We also talked about her admiration for Ricci and her recurring roles earlier in her career on Shameless and Pushing Daisies.

Season one of Yellowjackets, which is nominated for seven Emmy Awards, is available to stream on Showtime.
