Producers Guild moves deadlines for 2021 awards

The Producers Guild of America has moved some of its key dates and deadlines for its 32nd annual Producers Guild of America Awards, which will be held on March 24 in a virtual format.

The 2020-2021 awards season has been heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in the Academy Awards being pushed back to April 25 with an eligibility period through the end of February and nearly all guilds and industry awards, like the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild, also moving their eligibility periods to align with the Oscars.

The Producers Guild Awards recognize the producers who have created an undeniable impact on the producing profession. Last year’s honors included Marta Kauffman for the 2020 Norman Lear Achievement Award in Television, Ted Sarandos for the Milestone Award, the film Bombshell for the 2020 Stanley Kramer Award, and Octavia Spencer for the 2020 Visionary Award. Producing teams behind 1917SuccessionApollo 11, Toy Story 4, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Chernobyl, and more were among those honored in the motion pictures and television categories.
