Robert Pattinson serves us dad in deep space in first trailer for Claire Denis’ ‘High Life’

In High Life, the English-language debut from iconic director Claire Denis (Beau Travail, 35 Shots of Rhum), Robert Pattinson stars with Juliette Binoche, Andre Benjamin and Mia Goth in what is likely to be one of the most talked about films of 2019.
I saw the film at the Toronto International Film Festival last September and between the low budget, but very well-crafted space and spaceship design to Binoche’s “Fuck Box” (you read that right) High Life is an atmospheric and cerebral experience that doesn’t skimp on its graphically detailed weirdness (it’s about harvesting babies in space, for pete’s sake). Drenched in mood and gorgeous cinematography and a fantastic performance by Pattinson, High Life a mind-bender, a genre-fuck and something that will divide audiences into love it/hate it camps. It’s unmissable.
From A24:
Monte (Robert Pattinson) and his baby daughter are the last survivors of a damned and dangerous mission to deep space. The crew—death-row inmates led by a doctor (Juliette Binoche) with sinister motives—has vanished. As the mystery of what happened onboard the ship is unraveled, father and daughter must rely on each other to survive as they hurtle toward the oblivion of a black hole. A staggering and primal film about love and intimacy, suffused with anguished memories of a lost Earth, High Life is a haunting, thrilling achievement from visionary director Claire Denis.
A24 will release High Life on April 12th. Here is the first trailer and poster.
