Netflix Leads with 17 Nominations, HBO/MAX with 6 Nominations in Television Categories

Two New Categories Added This Year, Casting for International Film and International Television Series

Shōgun, Ripley, Baby Reindeer, The Bear, Only Murders in the Building and more earned Casting Society (CSA) nominations today in television, theater, commercials, short film and short form series for the 40th Artios Awards, which honor casting professionals in these categories.

In addition, two new categories have been added this year, casting for International Film and casting for International Television Series.

For dramas the nominees are season three of Slow Horses, season 6 of The Chi, the sixth and final season of The Crown, season two of The Gilded Age, season three of The Morning Show and season two of The Summer I Turned Pretty. For comedy series the nominations are season three of Hacks, season two of Julia, season two of Loot, season three of Only Murders in the Building, the third and final season of Reservation Dogs and the second season of The Bear, which won the casting award at the most recent Emmys.

Ripley, Baby Reindeer, Fargo. Feud: Capote vs. the Swans, All the Light We Cannot See and True Detective: Night Country are nominated in limited series while Shōgun, The Curse, Mr. and Mrs. Smith and more landed in the television pilot/first season category of drama. Baby Reindeer and Shōgun most recently won the casting award at the Emmys in September.

The winners will be announced at galas at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, the Edison Ballroom in New York and White City House in London on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

“Congratulations to all of the nominees on their incredible work, including those in our expanded international casting categories, which underscores the global reach of the casting profession. We look forward to once again gathering our community to honor the incredible achievements in casting globally in February,” said Destiny Lilly, CSA President.

Submissions for feature film nominees will open on November 13, 2024, and nominees will be announced in January 2025.  Honorees for The Hoyt Bowers Award for Excellence in Casting, Lynn Stalmaster Award For Career Achievement, Marion Dougherty New York Apple Award, and The Capelier-Shaw Award, which are also presented during the Artios ceremonies, will be announced at a later date.

Casting Society was founded in February of 1982 with the intention of establishing a recognized standard of professionalism in the casting field and providing its members with a support organization to further their goals and protect their common interests. Casting Society currently boasts close to 1,200 members.

First held in 1985, the Artios Awards honors Casting Professionals in more than 30 different categories encompassing film, television and theater. In addition, special honorees are selected for their contributions to the craft. Nominees and winners are voted on by members of Casting Society.

In the television categories, Netflix leads with 17 nominations, HBO/MAX with 6; Prime Video, Apple TV+ and FX each have 5 nominations.  The full list of nominations are below.

Erik Anderson

Erik Anderson is the founder/owner and Editor-in-Chief of AwardsWatch and has always loved all things Oscar, having watched the Academy Awards since he was in single digits; making lists, rankings and predictions throughout the show. This led him down the path to obsessing about awards. Much later, he found himself in film school and the film forums of GoldDerby, and then migrated over to the former Oscarwatch (now AwardsDaily), before breaking off to create AwardsWatch in 2013. He is a Rotten Tomatoes-approved critic, accredited by the Cannes Film Festival, Telluride Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival and more, is a member of the International Cinephile Society (ICS), The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics (GALECA), Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) and the International Press Academy. Among his many achieved goals with AwardsWatch, he has given a platform to underrepresented writers and critics and supplied them with access to film festivals and the industry and calls the Bay Area his home where he lives with his husband and son.
