The St. Louis Film Critics Association (StLFCA) revealed their nominations on Sunday, where Emerald Fennell’s Promising Young Woman and David Fincher’s Mank topped the list with eight mentions apiece. While Promising Young Woman and Fennell were both nominated in Best Film and Best Director, respectively, Mank and Fincher missed out on both of the top categories and made up for it in the technical ones.
Joining Promising Young Woman in Best Picture were First Cow, I’m Thinking of Ending Things, Nomadland and The Trial of the Chicago 7. Only the last two matched up in Best Director, with Lee Isaac Chung (Minari) and Spike Lee (Da 5 Bloods) rounding out the category.
Disney+’s Hamilton showed up in two categories: Best Editing and Best Soundtrack, and the group also fills out its nomination announcements with genre categories like best comedy, action and horror film.
Here is the full list of nominations. Winners will be announced on January 17.
