The Television Critics Association has revealed their nominations for 2014, with Breaking Bad, True Detective and The Good Wife all receiving multiple nominations. Breaking Bad, for its final season, scored three. True Detective, although submitted as a Drama Series for the Emmys, was nominated in Movie/Miniseries here. It also picked up nods for Program of the Year, New Program and Individual Achievement in Drama for Matthew McConaughey. Co-star Woody Harrelson was not nominated. The Good Wife, which saw a huge creative resurgence this season, bounced back with nominations for Julianna Margulies, Drama Series and Program of the Year.
Since 1984, the members of the TCA have voted for outstanding achievements in television. As professional consumers of the medium, TV critics are often the first to spot exemplary work in television. Time and again their choices have anticipated later honors from the Emmy and Peabody award panels. In 2002 the TCA began honoring the iconic figures in TV with its Heritage Award. The TCA Awards are held during the July press tour.
Below is a full list of nominees and here’s a list of past winners. This year’s winners will be announced at a non-televised ceremony on July 19, nine days after the Primetime Emmy nomination announcement and midway through the TCA press tour.
