TCA Winners: Handmaid’s Tale, Atlanta, Big Little Lies Take Top Honors; Carrie Coon Makes History

Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale was the top winner at tonight’s TCA (Television Critics Association) Awards, taking home the Outstanding Achievement in Drama and Program of they Year. It was a first for the network. The Handmaid’s Tale was nominated for 13 Emmy Awards last month. FX’s Atlanta also won two awards, Outstanding Achievement in Comedy and Individual Achievement in Comedy for Donald Glover. Both Glover and Atlanta are multi-nominated for Emmys this year. NBC’s This Is Us won Outstanding New Program, beating out the two winners in the Drama and Comedy categories.

HBOs Big Little Lies bested the likes of Fargo, Feud: Bette and Joan and The Night Of for Outstanding Achievement in Movies, Miniseries and Specials.

Carrie Coon won Individual Achievement in Drama for both the series The Leftovers (HBO) and the limited series Fargo (FX). It was the first time in TCA history that a person won for a dual performance.

Seinfeld took the Heritage Award for classic television and Ken Burns received the the Career Achievement Award.
