‘The Birth of a Nation’ gets a trailer
One of the most anticipated films of 2016, The Birth of a Nation, has its first teaser trailer.
The dual 2016 Sundance Film Festival winner, which was also shown in parts at CinemaCon, is full of sweeping camera shots, dramatic photography and rousing speeches. The film, which was written, directed and stars Nate Parker, tells the story of Nat Turner, a Virginia slave who organized a revolt in 1831 against white slave owners to free African-Americans. The film also stars Armie Hammer (The Social Network), Jackie Earle Haley (Oscar nominee for Little Children), Aunjanue Ellis (The Help, TV’s Quantico), Gabrielle Union (Bring it On, TV’s Being Mary Jane) Aja Naomi King (TV’s How to Get Away with Murder) and Penelope Ann Miller (Adventures in Babysitting).
The film is set for release by Fox Searchlight on October 7th.
