Amidst the fall film festivals and Oscar talk comes in a huge breath of fresh air in the form of the trailer for the new Coen Brothers film Hail, Caesar! and it’s a riot. Part Barton Fink, part The Big Lebowski, the film details a 1950s movie studio whose big star Baird Whitlock (George Clooney) is kidnapped off the set of an expensive epic (Hail, Caesar!) and held for ransom.
Boasting a massive cast that includes Josh Brolin as studio exec Eddie Mannix, Channing Tatum as an up and coming star, Scarlett Johansson as an Esther Williams mermaid and Tilda Swinton as Hedda Hopper this looks like a total blast and looks to be on a scale bigger than many previous Coen Brothers efforts.
[box type=”shadow” align=”aligncenter” class=”” width=””]Four-time Oscar®-winning filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men, True Grit, Fargo) write and direct Hail, Caesar!, an all-star comedy set during the latter years of Hollywood’s Golden Age. Starring Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Alden Ehrenreich, Ralph Fiennes, Jonah Hill, Scarlett Johansson, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and Channing Tatum, Hail, Caesar! follows a single day in the life of a studio fixer who is presented with plenty of problems to fix. The comedy is produced by the Coen brothers under their Mike Zoss Productions banner alongside Working Title Films’ Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. [/box]
Hail, Caesar! hits theaters February 6th, 2016 from Universal Pictures.
