The Favourite tops the 2019 BAFTA nominations with 12, following by Bohemian Rhapsody, First Man and Roma all with 7, Vice with 6, BlacKkKlansman with 5 and Green Book with 4.

Shocking snubs came in Best Actress with Emily Blunt missing for Mary Poppins Returns (which only managed three nominations) and the surprise inclusion of Viola Davis in Widows (the film’s only nom).

Sam Elliott (A Star Is Born) missed out on Supporting Actor, Golden Globe winner Regina King was snubbed in Supporting Actress and in Best Actor a surprise addition of Steve Coogan in Stan & Ollie.

Cold War director Pawel Pawlikowski was nominated in Best Director, which should fuel those pundit predictions that he may be an Oscar Best Director contender as well.

The nominees for the EE Rising Star Award announced last week are Barry Keoghan, Cynthia Erivo, Jessie Buckley, Lakeith Stanfield and Letitia Wright. The award is voted for by the British public and presented to an actress or actor who has demonstrated exceptional talent and has begun to capture the imagination of the UK public.

The nominations were announced by Hayley Squires and Will Poulter at BAFTA’s London headquarters, 195 Piccadilly.

The EE British Academy Film Awards take place on Sunday, February 10th at the Royal Albert Hall, London. The ceremony will be hosted by Joanna Lumley and will be broadcast exclusively on BBC One and BBC One HD.

Here is the full list of 2019 EE British Film Academy Awards nominations.

Erik Anderson

Erik Anderson is the founder/owner and Editor-in-Chief of AwardsWatch and has always loved all things Oscar, having watched the Academy Awards since he was in single digits; making lists, rankings and predictions throughout the show. This led him down the path to obsessing about awards. Much later, he found himself in film school and the film forums of GoldDerby, and then migrated over to the former Oscarwatch (now AwardsDaily), before breaking off to create AwardsWatch in 2013. He is a Rotten Tomatoes-approved critic, accredited by the Cannes Film Festival, Telluride Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival and more, is a member of the International Cinephile Society (ICS), The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics (GALECA), Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) and the International Press Academy. Among his many achieved goals with AwardsWatch, he has given a platform to underrepresented writers and critics and supplied them with access to film festivals and the industry and calls the Bay Area his home where he lives with his husband and son.
