“The Oprah Conversation: Elliot Page” premieres April 30 on Apple TV+

Apple announced today that trailblazing actor, producer and advocate Elliot Page will be Oprah Winfrey’s next guest on “The Oprah Conversation,” premiering Friday, April 30, on Apple TV+.

Elliot Page is an Academy Award-nominated actor known for his indelible on-screen presence in both tentpole and art house films.  His love for storytelling and passion for social justice has taken him behind the camera as a producer and documentary filmmaker whose work answers the call to action of a generation. A tireless champion of the under-represented, Elliot uses his global platform to shed light on important social and LGBTQ+ issues, partnering with the Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice to raise money for grassroots activists and homeless youth. Elliot’s work and advocacy are motivated and informed by the urgency of global issues which impact the most marginalized among us.  

In 2020, Elliot announced in a moving message on social media that he is transgender. Elliot uses both he/him and they/them pronouns and identifies himself as transgender and non-binary. After coming out, Elliot received overwhelming support from the LGBTQ+ community and is now using his voice to speak out on issues of violence perpetrated against trans bodies, as well as confronting political leaders who seek to criminalize trans healthcare. In 2014, Elliot delivered a deeply moving and personal coming out speech at “Time to Thrive,” an HRC conference that promotes the welfare of LGBTQI youth. The speech resonated with millions around the world who heard him share his desire to “make a difference, and help others have an easier, more hopeful time”, expressing what he deemed a “personal obligation and social responsibility.” Elliot’s courage, advocacy and leadership have made him one of the most admired and respected public figures of his generation. In March of 2021, Elliot became the first transgender man to be featured solo on the cover of TIME Magazine.
 
Elliot’s much anticipated directorial debut, “There’s Something in the Water,” released globally on Friday, March 27. The documentary, which Elliot directed with frequent collaborator Ian Daniel, is based on the novel of the same name by Ingrid Walton and explores the scourge of environmental racism through the lens of Indigenous and African Nova Scotian women fighting to protect their communities, their land and their futures. Elliot also created and produced the ground-breaking, two-time Emmy nominated documentary series “Gaycation,”  follows Elliot and Ian Daniel as they explore LGBTQ+ culture, and the often-harsh realities facing queer communities across the world. The second season features personal stories and polarizing perspectives in countries including India, Ukraine and France as well as the American Deep South and Orlando, during the aftermath of the tragic Pulse Night Club shooting.  
 
Elliot currently stars as Vanya Hargreeves in the successful global series, “The Umbrella Academy,” which follows a disbanded group of superheroes who reunite after their adoptive father dies. Elliot also starred in the Lauren Morelli revival of the early ‘90s hit mini-series, “Tales of the City,” alongside Laura Linney and Olympia Dukakis.
