“There are many, so many, hungry wolves. Can you find the wolves in this picture?”

Today Apple Original Films released the first teaser trailer for Martin Scorsese’s highly anticipated Killers of the Flower Moon, which will world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday.

At the turn of the 20th century, oil brought a fortune to the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted, and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder. Based on a true story and told through the improbable romance of Ernest Burkhart (Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone).

The film also stars longtime Scorsese collaborate, Academy Award winner Robert De Niro, plus Academy Award nominee Jesse Plemons, newly minted Oscar winner Brendan Fraser and a large supporting cast that includes Scott Shepherd, Pat Healy, Tantoo Cardinal, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, Jillian Dion, William Belleau, Louis Cancelmi, Tatanka Means, Michael Abbott Jr., Gary Basaraba, and Grammy Award-winning musicians Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson.

Behind the scenes are some of Hollywood’s top names and among the deepest in Scorsese’s bench, including longtime editor Thelma Schoonmaker, Director of Photography Rodrigo Prieto, Production Designer Jack Fisk, Costume Designer Jacqueline West and Music by Robbie Robertson.

The film is based on David Grann’s 2017 best-selling non-fiction book “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI” was co-written by Scorsese and Eric Roth and went into production in April 2021. Filming wrapped in September 2021 but between Scorsese’s traditional long post-production process and some minor reshoots and pickups earlier this year, the film wasn’t officially locked until just three days ago, five days before its Cannes debut.

Killers of the Flower Moon was produced alongside Imperative Entertainment, Sikelia Productions and Appian Way. Producers are Scorsese, Dan Friedkin, Bradley Thomas and Daniel Lupi, with DiCaprio, Rick Yorn, Adam Somner, Marianne Bower, Lisa Frechette, John Atwood, Shea Kammer and Niels Juul serving as executive producers.

Killers of the Flower Moon will premiere exclusively in select theaters on October 6, 2023 and wide on October 20, distributed in partnership with Paramount Pictures, before streaming globally on Apple TV+.

Here is the teaser trailer.
