Netflix’s The Two Popes is an AARP favorite with seven nominations while The Irishman (also Netflix) and Sony’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood earned six mentions apiece. The group, which only nominates performers over the age of 50, nominated Robert De Niro (The Irishman), Renée Zellweger (Judy), Alfre Woodard (Clemency) and Jennifer Lopez (Hustlers) among others for their acting prizes.
Sony’s A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and Little Women and Netflix’s Marriage Story grabbed five noms each, with Lionsgate’s Bombshell earning four. All will compete in the Best Picture/Best Movie for Grownups category, along with A24’s The Farewell, which scored three mentions.
AARP also announced that Tony Danza will host the January 11 awards at the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills. Earlier this month, Annette Bening was announced to receive the AARP Movies for Grownups Career Achievement Award.
