Euphoria, Severance, The White Lotus lead television nominations
American Cinema Editors (ACE) announced today the nominations for the 73rd Annual ACE Eddie Awards, recognizing outstanding editing in 14 categories of film, television and documentaries. The winners will be announced LIVE during the ACE Eddie Awards on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at UCLA’s Royce Hall beginning at 3pm PT.
For theatrical feature film dramas the nominees are All Quiet on the Western Front, Elvis, TÁR, Top Gun: Maverick and The Woman King. Elvis, TÁR and Top Gun: Maverick are nominated for the Film Editing Oscar. For theatrical film comedies we have The Banshees of Inisherin and Everything Everywhere All At Once rounding out the Film Editing Oscar nominees, with Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, The Menu and Triangle of Sadness.
In television, Euphoria and Severance dominated, each taking two of the five spots for Best Edited Drama Series with Andor picking up the lone slot. Geoffrey Richman, ACE is nominated each of the two Severance episodes, “In Perpetuity” with Erica Freed Marker, ACE and individually for “The We We Are” and Julio Perez IV, ACE was nominated for both episodes of Euphoria, “Stand Still Like the Hummingbird” with Aaron I. Butler, ACE and “The Theater and Its Double” with Laura Zempel and Nikola Boyanov.
Barry and The White Lotus were also double-nominated in the comedy series and limited series categories, respectively.
Brian A. Kates, ACE was also a double nominee, for Best Edited Documentary (All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, along with Amy Foote and Joe Bini) and Best Edited Feature Film (Non-Theatrical) for Fire Island.
As previously announced, the ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award, recognizing a filmmaker who exemplifies distinguished achievement in the art and business of film, will be presented to Gina Prince-Bythewood for her exemplary body of work including her latest film The Woman King. Also previously announced, film editors Lynne Willingham, ACE and Don Zimmerman, ACE will receive Career Achievement Awards for their outstanding contributions to film editing.
