Trailer for ‘Life Itself’ starring Oscar Isaac and Olivia Cooke from ‘This Is Us’ creator

Writer/director Dan Fogelman has spent the last two years making viewers care and cry on the small screen with his Emmy-winning hit series This Is Us. He returns to the big screen with his second feature, Life Itself, which looks to extract emotions and tears as well.

The film centers on a couple (Oscar Isaac and Olivia Wilde) as they go from college romance to marriage that all lead a multi generational love story spanning both decades and continents, from the streets of New York to the Spanish countryside, and are all connected by a single event. As a writer, Fogelman has dipped his pen heavily in animated fare like Bolt, Tangled and Cars 2 but he’s also managed another successful all-star ensemble with the film Crazy Stupid Love. While there are definitely a handful of lighter, comedic and definitely romantic elements to Life Itself, it does also look like it could veer into Collateral Beauty meets Crash territory.

Life Itself also stars Antonio Banderas, 4-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening, Olivia Cooke, Sergio Peris- Mencheta, Laia Costa, Alex Monner and Emmy winner Mandy Patinkin.

Amazon Studios will release Life Itself on September 21st.
