TRAILER: Johnny Depp Channels Joe Pesci in ‘Black Mass’ Trailer

Johnny Depp is coming for gold in Black Mass

The chilling trailer for Johnny Depp’s Black Mass has dropped and in it he plays a cat and mouse game over a card table that echoes Joe Pesci’s “Am I here to amuse you?” clip from his Oscar-winning role in Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas. He could be in the hunt this year for another Best Actor nomination, anything to rinse out the bad taste of Mortdecai earlier this year would be a good thing. In the film, Depp stars as James “Whitey” Bulger, the infamous Irish gangster that the FBI convinced to rat on the Italian mob in the 1970s. But the tables are turned when Bulger’s access gives him more power than he had before. The film also stars Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kevin Bacon, Dakota Johnson, Jesse Plemons, Corey Stoll, Rory Cochrane, Sienna Miller, and Adam Scott. Check out the trailer below.

Black Mass opens on September 18th.
