The first look at Bleecker Street’s TRUMBO, starring Bryan Cranston as blacklisted Hollywood writer Dalton Trumbo is here and it’s a fun and flashy trailer.
The film tells the story of Trumbo, the American screenwriter and novelist who came under fire from the House Un-American Activities Committee and labeled a Communist. He was blacklisted in the “Hollywood 10” when he refused to testify in 1947 during the committee’s investigation of the motion picture industry.
During the time of his blacklist he wrote multiple hit Hollywood films under pseudonyms and even won two Oscars in the process. In 1956 for The Brave One under the name Robert Rich (he was awarded the statue in 1975) and in 1993 he was finally properly awarded his Oscar for 1953’s Roman Holiday.
The film also stars Oscar winner Helen Mirren, Oscar nominee Diane Lane, Elle Fanning, Louis C.K., John Goodman and Michael Stuhlbarg.
It opens in November and will be released by Bleeker Street.
