TV Recap: ‘Watchmen’ Season One Episode Six – “The Extraordinary Being”

Watchmen had the best episode of its season tonight and I’m not even sure it’s close (when comparing it to the others). The cinematography, writing, and action sequences were all top-notch. Episode six was pretty important as it provided context as to who Angela’s grandfather was and why he might do the things he does. All that aside, there was something special about this episode imparticular. It brilliantly captured the essence of what made the graphic novels special on top of really laid out the depths to which these African American characters struggle. With that in mind, here are three takeaways from tonight’s episode.

3. Everything they built is gone

What little trust Laurie and Angela had is gone. They only thing she seems to trust as this point is her family (both past and present). Part of taking the risk when gulping down all that Nostalgia was so she’d understand who she was and where her Grandpa came from.

2. Angela looks at her grandfather’s past in order to understand the present

Angela understands that she’s at a crossroads until more of her family tree is revealed. We know she was born in Vietnam but to who. By going back and seeing where her grandfather originated, it gives a sense of who she really is. Will that help in the long run? Time will tell.

1. If Hooded Justice is still around, where are the others?

If Hooded Justice is around then where are the others? Will we find them?
