On the heels of their momentous Pulp Fiction reunion at the 94th Academy Awards this past weekend, Yale Entertainment announced today that Academy Award nominee Uma Thurman (Kill Bill, Batman and Robin) and Academy Award winner Samuel L. Jackson (The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, Marvel’s The Avengers, The Hateful Eight) will star in The Kill Room, a new dark comedy/crime-thriller written by Jonathan Jacobson and to be directed by Nicol Paone. Jordan Yale Levine, Jordan Beckerman, and Jon Keeyes are producing under their Yale Productions banner alongside Anne Clements of Idiot Savant Pictures, Paone, Thurman, and Dannielle Thomas and Jason Weinberg from Untitled Entertainment. Production will begin this spring in New Jersey and New York, with Yale’s recently launched sales and distribution banner, Great Escape, handling international sales and co-repping the US rights with ICM.
The Kill Room is a dark comedy / crime-thriller about a hitman, his boss (Jackson), an art dealer (Thurman) and their money laundering scheme that accidentally turns the hitman into an overnight, avant garde, sensation forcing her to play the art world against the underworld.
“Getting to make The Kill Room – an already incredible script – with Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson, is beyond my wildest dreams,” said director Nicol Paone. “Every moment they’re on screen they are both enviable and eye-catching. I am eternally grateful to both of them for saying yes and I am thrilled to bring this to life alongside Anne Clements, and Yale Productions.”
“The combination of Uma and Sam for this project is a dream come true! We are certain that Nicol is going to deliver a special film, and one that strikes the perfect balance between dark humor and edge-of-your-seat thrills,” said Levine and Beckerman.
Thurman is best-known for her role as The Bride in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill films, and also starred alongside Jackson in Tarantino’s cult classic Pulp Fiction, for which they were both nominated for an Academy Award. Thurman currently stars on Showtime series “Super Pumped.” Additional credits include: Dangerous Liaisons, Batman & Robin, and Gattaca.
Jackson can currently be seen starring in “The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey” for Apple TV+, and he is also an executive producer on the series. Jackson’s additional credits include: Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Hateful Eight, Django Unchained, The Hitman’s Bodyguard films, and as Mace Windu in the Star Wars prequel trilogy.
Paone made her writing and directing debut with Will Ferrell and Adam Mckay’s “Funny or Die” comedy outfit, where she also appeared in sketches alongside Evan Rachel Wood, Darren Criss, Dennis Quaid and Melissa McCarthy. Her feature directorial debut Friendsgiving, starring Malin Akerman and Kat Dennings, was released worldwide in October 2020 and enjoyed the number one spot on iTunes, Redbox and Fandango.
Thurman is represented by ICM Partners, Untitled Entertainment, Jonathan Sanders & Co, Wolf Kasteler Public Relations, and Hansen Jacobson Teller. Jackson is represented by ICM Partners, Anonymous Content, Wolf Kasteler Public Relations, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman Wertheimer Mandelbaum Morris Bernstein Trattner & Klein.
